I dont remember who it was during the Live "mixing with headphones" the other day, but I was made aware of this mix Contest from Lewitt.
As Far as i can tell it is just a mix contest (no remix)

        Is anyone entering here?
If so, how about helping each other out by posting your mixes here and give feedback to each other?
I mean, it would be awesome if a fellow PLAPpateer would win 🙂

fwiw, here is my current version: https://soundcloud.com/user-769060788/lewitt-25-reasons/s-I2O3k

I like it Erik. You're making me re-think my backing vocals.

This is what i have so far. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks.

            Hey Jeritt,

I like the very open and live sound you have going on there. Nicely balanced.
Maybe I'd work on the lead vocals; put more compression on there and/or automate it more, because it kind of pops in out of your mix.
But other than that, your mix made me re-think some aspects of my mix too 🙂

            Cheers,
            Erik

Hi guys! Eric your mix is very nice, Jeritt yeah your vocals are a little bit unstable but I also like your work! It is a very challanging mix, here's mine so far:

That sounds good, Rob, and thanks for the input.

Ive reworked the lead vocal and while im not completely satisfied yet, i think they are sitting better in the mix. let me know what you think of the revisions.

Hi, been a while since I posted anything for feedback but I've been fiddling with this one off and on for a few weeks. I actually thought the comp had finished but apparently not. 🙂
Here's my initial effort.. definitely a bit of a challenge. The accompanying video helped alot with a bit of a change in direction on the kick, snare and vocals.

                        All feedback most welcome.

[Update] Made a few changes. Thanks Jesper for the feedback. 🙂

                        Thanks, Paul

Hey Jesper, pretty powerful mix, good work. My initial reaction is that I miss the attack of the bass, I feel like it's been smoothed out too much so has lost the aggression. I'm also not really getting the low lows on the kick and I find the kit a bit too mono, maybe try an spread the overheads and make a bit more of the room.
I'm not sure if it's my streaming connection but the mix is a bit choppy. If you have master bus compression maybe it's hitting it too hard?

Just some initial thoughts, I hope that helps.

Good luck with the comp! 🙂

Thanks and thanks for great feedback Paul! 🙂 Yes my intention with this mix was the mono feel but widening it with delays, so the guitar and the organ has delays panned opposite sides. Like a cascades of delays. I had a really hard time to get the vocal sound to fit in the mix. It has a lot of leakage. In the original mix it works really well. So after remixing it from scratch six times 😉 I ended up with this solution. I aslo ended up using the room mics a lot. So the drums are in there really wide but offcourse the overhead is almost mono, or the feeling of an (smaller room). I agree with you that this mix does not have the agression that the original mix has and it lack the unbelievable cool bass sound. I really liked that original bass sound but boy that had a lot of low end in it haha! The choppy sound I dont know, I cant hear anything of that when I listen to it straight from my DAW or from soundcloude. Anywas thanks for listening and taking time to comment!
