Simultaneously Mic Amp and DI Line In

Hi, I have heard Warren mention a technique wherein he records a miked amp and also a direct line into the DAW at the same time. Does anyone know how this is done (line in and line out-wise) or have a link to a video explaining it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jon.
You need DI-Box in between guitar and amp. One input - two outputs.

Yep, a DI-Box with a THRU port. Not everything that is sold as a DI-Box does has one of those.

The Line Outputs from Scarlett are for speakers.

Yes, either combination of those two signal paths. guitar-amp-mic-scarlett or guitar -scarlett.

In case i get it right, you need:
Guitar
DI Box with THRU port (Direct Inject Box) - here you have two outputs !
one: - into AMP - through MIC into SCARLETT mic input
two: - into SCARLETT
from SCARLETT into DAW via usb/firewire
in DAW record two tracks at once.
