      Hi guys,

      I just saw a short (3min) video on Youtube (1977) showing a session with Queen 'We Are The Champions'.
      We can see the drum kit with three mics on toms.
      I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the placement of the mics in between the toms.
      It seems to me that it was a clever technique to control the phase.

      Also we can see that the third tom is actually a tom on a floor tom? Is it correct?

        It's definitely a mounted tom that's placed slightly above the floor tom. It's probably just placed there so it's not too far away.
