I'd really love to see a lesson or video on producing with a QOTSA or Jack White style track. Their sound is really awesome and I'm not sure how to approach mixing that way with their super heavy midrange approach. I'm so used to cutting 500 ish or 350 that seeing some mixers like Andrew Schepps add 500 and still have a space for everything in the mix confuses the shnizel out of me haha.

Where is he adding and what is he ducking out to make room for it? Interesting topic. Got a link to the vids you are referencing? Curious minds and all.... 🙂

They're mostly from mix tutorials from other sites. There's a good sound on sound video talking about recording guitar for QOTSA where they mention cranking the mids to 11 on a few pedals going into the amp.

The Schepps one is from puremix. https://www.puremix.net/video/inside-the-mix-the-heavy-with-andrew-scheps.html

There's also a Mix with the Masters video of CLA talking about adding 500hz on guitar with a UAD trident EQ emulator.

Unless they're all thinking of adding EQ for colour and then mixing it like Al Schmitt, I have no idea how to approach the style of a mix.
