Maybe this is an old hat, but maybe not:
I've got my Lewitt DTP 640 REX about half way inside the bass drum, so that I get a slight cut at 80 Hz for the bass.
Now, here's the trick I got from Chris from Airwindows (check out his Plugins, I think they are amazing):
I stuck a transducer clip (cheapest I could find) outside on the shell of the bass drum.
When you listen to the recording you hear
- three, with a Clarett 8PreX, directly recorded tracks without any plugins
- 1. the condenser part of the mic only
- 2. the dynamic part of the mic only
- 3. the transducer on the kick's shell only
- all tracks mixed together in the oder above
What do you think?
