Ballpark figure on cost of hiring a studio designer?

Hey team,

Can anyone help me ballpark the cost of hiring a studio designer?

I know a few of you have hired John Brandt or similar - roughly what was the cost for design process?

Everyone's website is reeeeeal cagey about actual cost - how much should I be saving up? £3k? £5k? £10k?

I realise that every project is different, so prices vary based on needs, but I need to know how much to budget, I don't want to a) waste a designers time, or b) underbudget massively & end up stalling the build til I can pay up.

I'm only after a control room, if that's useful info, not in need of a tracking space.
