      Hey, sorry, noob question.

I'm using some of the multitracks but the ones I have are recorded hot like master buss -0.2 - clipping dbfs hot.

What's the best way to deal with this, edit the waveforms, turn them all down equally with pre-fx volume/clip gain?

I've done that on one project but it was by 10db which was a complete guess really. Using Reaper btw.

      Thanks

        Hi,
if you're at 24 bit you can leave it as it is or turn it down with a gain plugin or use the output level of one of the master bus plugins you use.
If you use plugins that are dependent of their input level you shouldn't edit the waveforms as that would change your mix (e.g. change the way the compressors react or giving you less saturation).
If you're still at the stage of gain staging it's one way to go. Or reduce the volume of the busses you use or the volumes of the single tracks.
