    Hello

    Someone with more experience will answer this better I'm sure.

    My own thoughts were acoustic you may want to add gentle compression just to smooth out any peaks for a more constant level.  I use the SSL channel strip for this (when I can get back to doing some mixing). As for distorted Guitars you may not need any at all.
