Genesis - Turn it On Again (Cover) - Richard Carlson
Feedback Friday/Saturday Submission
Hello @Warren, and the PLAP community!,
This is my first-ever feedback Friday/Saturday session and I am excited to share my mix with all of you!
I've chosen this mix because I'm a huge Genesis fan! Thank you Warren, for deciding to cover this track! Steve's voice is spot-on!
After initially looking at the multi-track files, I was horrified! C'Mon man! Mono drum mix... After a while, I decided that I could do this... without having to resort to samples.
It would have been so much easier, if the isolated drums tracks were provided. But, oh well... Sometimes you get what is less than optimal. I was up for the challenge.
I used mostly most shaping EQ, then saturation, and limiting to form the foundation of the overall over drum sound. I then threw some flanging on the guitars, to make them fill in the side space.
I wish I could have gotten a better tom sound, from the mono track!
I had alot of enjoyment (and of course the added challenge) of mixing this song!
Overall, I am happy with the mix but I know there is a lot of improvement left to do. I really wanted to make sure that there was enough low end.
I know Warren is always mentioning that in the review of songs.
I would love to hear what you all think, and as always, feedback is apreciated!
