Hi - here's my totally In The Box, On Headphones mix (on Audio Technica ATH -M50x cans) after seeing the latest (as ever) excellent video from Warren.
I am a relative newbie to serious mixing and have never tried mixing totally on cans. I have a very mild bus compressor on the mix bus (after doing Darrell Thorpe's most excellent course and spotting a BX townhouse bus compressor top down, I bought one, well, subscribed - and to my ears it sounds better than the Waves. one. I've also used mainly Brainworks E channels and IK Pultecs on drums) and have put a IK brickwall limiter on the master bus to make certain errant kick drum hits didn't clip the track. It's now about the same level as Warrens. If I was at my studio (I don't have all my plugins on my laptop) I would probably use a tape emulation plugin for a bit of analogue warmth on the mix bus as well (usually Kramer) and an Ozone 8 across the master bus to sweeten the mix, so its great to do a mix with limited plugins. Let me know what you all think.

Tried to give it a listen, John, but the link no longer seems to be there.

Sounds good, John. Really well balanced. Great use of space, left/right, top/down, etc. The only thing that sticks out to me is the flanging on the vocal. Just my personal taste. I think it's a fine treatment, but I'd probably dial it back just a bit. I mixed a similar song last week and used a vocoder on the primary vocal to accomplish a similar effect, to make line two of the verse kind of stand out a bit. I struggle with that one, too. How much is enough? How much is too much? Other than that, sounds top notch. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lem - thanks for the great help. I didn't put any flanging on the voice - it must have been Warren's H3000 days and I pushed it up too much...

              Best regards,

              John
