      Hi all,

What are people's opinions about mixing with some gentle (-1db) limiting of the master bus to avoid clipping? Is this a wise way to mix or should I ensure that all the mix channels are balanced so as to avoid that anyway?

Thanks for any and all input.

        Hi David,

Since DAWs today have a lot of headroom, you can mix with clipping channels or busses, so it should be no problem.
One point I see though is, that it's difficult to control how much limiting is done. Let's say, you startet mixing with a little bit of limiting, some gain reduction on loud kick or snare hits. As you mix, everything gets louder and you mix accordantly. Now you take a look at your limiter and see that it reduces a lot of gain, so you change the setting but then the mix sounds different.
