ParticipantI have a few pair, AKG-Q701, Yamaha HPH-MT8, Audio Technica M-50 but I always seem to go back to the Sony V6's. They have a revealing top end at a low listening level. But they're the flimsiest made out of all of them. I've heard some great things about the Beyers. Any Sony users out there with a comparison? I'm also interested in trying some open back headphones.

ParticipantPicked up some Blue Lola's band in May for $100 off the regular price, and really love them. They are very comfortable and sound fantastic. I hear they sound even better with the sonarworks headphone edition.

ParticipantSony-MDR-7506, as @Sean is using, is the cans of choice of Andrew Scheps. Can't be bad!! Relatively budget, I believe about 100 bucks. Very linear. Not very commonly used, but nobody knows why. I'm going to buy them soon.
Currently, I'm using Beyerdynamics DT-880, DT-1990, and also sometimes Sennheiser HD-25 II.July 24, 2020 at 4:01 pm #78581Scott Peets
ParticipantI use the Sony MDR V6's which were the older version and same price but not quite as sizzly. I just looked them up on Ebay and they're going for $250-$350. I was shocked! The 7506 are a little brighter. But both pairs allow you to listen at a very low level and still hear what's going on in the upper frequencies. Those type of headphones are hard to find these days because everyone wants tons of low end which I find too muddy to make judgements on. The V6 and 7506 were a standard in the studios for many years. $99 is a great deal.

ParticipantHey.. K702s open back for mixing although I tend to find the hyped top end and roll off on the low end a bit misleading so always have Sonarworks on. I check on Audio Technica M50s and 1More triple driver ear buds... as well as the usual car etc... 🙂
K702s are great.. would highly recommend for mixing.July 24, 2020 at 11:41 pm #78597(Knot Hardly) Jay
Participanthave to throw this out there... my lolas which are around 2 yrs old now started blistering on the pads (pleather and NOT leather) so i wrote Blue about it. they got back with me and said they were still under warranty but they are discontinued. so to remedy they are sending me a new set of Blue Mix-Fi headphones with the built in amp. and since they could not actually replace my originals they are also sending me a Yeti Nano USB mic for my troubles. i should also add... they wanted me to verify and asked if i would get a permanent marker and write the warranty number they sent me on the 'defective' headphones and to send them a pic along with my actual snail mail addy for shipment purposes. i wrote them back and told them i would and would they please send along their's so i could send the lolas back. they immediately wrote back and told me i did not have to send the defective set back... just send them a pic of the marked set so i get to keep the lolas (they still work fine) on top of the new cans and mic. WOW! now THAT is customer service... so if anyone is thinking about buying anything from Blue i can say from experience that they have the best customer care i have seen of any company. most companies would require you to send in the defective product just so you don't get it and they would throw them in the trash and write them off. i am stoked and just had to tell the little story of my recent experience with Blue as a company... especially since i saw today that Warren's lolas (i think they are) are broken... he might want to contact Blue and see what they can do for him 😛 cheers all
