      Hi Tony,
Interesting mix, the beginning was overwhelming, powerful.

        Hey Akhilesh Jain

Don't be afraid to experiment, say "Yes" to yourself and you are a winner. The mix is good, but give it strength. 🙂

Hey all, I just want to say how awesome it is to see everyone helping each other out on this track.  I can't believe we're up to nearly 100 posts on this.

I feel like one of the most valuable things I get out of PLAP is taking the time to really seriously critique a mix.  There's something really valuable about listening to a track and saying to myself "if this is what I had, what would I do next?".  It's certainly easier when it's a song I've already mixed, but I just did about 10 original tracks and that was really interesting too.

No matter how novice one might be at this art, there's a point in my mix when it won't be any better than the person who started mixing yesterday.  There's always a point at which I need to give my own work a thoughtful "what's wrong?" and "what's next?".

If as a community we aim to offer not just "good job" but "good job - have you tried X or can I suggest Y?", we not only elevate our peers with new ideas, we also elevate ourselves in thinking of how to tackle new problems!

            Hey Akhilesh, nice work here!

I opted for a bit more lush on the guitars, particularly in the opening (since the opening tracks are actually separate from the verse, this is something easy to try).  The brighter EQ on the vocals in the verse really makes them jump out - perhaps too far.  In your chorus, they sit better because the guitars are quite bright.

Generally though I'm noticing the left side of your mix feels louder and more present in the EQ (largely because of the guitars).

In the second verse intro/second verse, the additional percussion elements are almost imperceptible - which is fine, but also a bit of a shame since before the vocals in the second verse haven't started, there's not much ear candy for the listener that's new.

That's really all I've got for you.  Great job and best of luck in the contest!

@Peter, some great attack on those toms!  Slam!  You might opt to dial that back once the vocals are in?

Great use of the full sound stage.  Vocals seem dialed in nicely - maybe a shade more air than I would have used in the verses, but probably just personal preference.  Your lead seems to be mixed in perfectly.

As with other mixes, I think not bringing up the extra percussion in the break between the 1st chorus and second verse is a bit of a missed opportunity.  You've got some ear candy - give it to the listener?

Only other thing is I don't know that the kick translates on small speakers.  You might consider just a little more point to make sure a mobile phone would reproduce something implying the kick.

Great job!  Best of luck in the competition!

                  Hey Todd!
You’re absolutely right, feedback is paramount and honesty is reviewing is very much appreciated.

As for the points you’ve made about my mix - thank you very much! I’ll certainly look into the verse vocals. The left-sidedness of the track you’ve mentioned comes as a surprise to me, but that’s why second opinions are so crucial. Not sure why that’s happening, I’ll check it out!

The only reason I got the Rise and Hit track so low is because it has been clipped and distorted, I wasn’t sure how to make that sit well and not seem distracting

                  Thank you for the feedback!

I published a new version where I addressed some of the issues that Serge and Todd mentioned.
