        Hello everyone,

        Here's my take: https://soundcloud.com/1textbzsvfji/campaign-like-clockwork-patiently-mix-contest-2020

Please don't be too strict as this is my second full mix ever ๐Ÿ™‚

When I first heard the original mix I found it too long, too Eurovision'ish (if you know what I mean). too whiny. It was also lacking clear development of the story, so at some points I even couldn't understand what part of the song I'm currently listening to ๐Ÿ™‚ So I started off with cutting out the most whiny and boring pieces and muting all the guitar FX tracks. After making some temporary mixes I decided to retrack all the remaining guitars except solo (had only 1.5 hours for that unfortunately) as they weren't complimenting the emotional vocal line good enough.

        What do you think?

        Kind regards,

        Dave Unett

          Hi All,

New member - don't know what took me so long! Here's my submission. I'm joining the last-minute flood! First time I've shared a mix like this. Feedback is very welcome. Good luck to everyone!

Hi Sergey, a bold work, but the mix sounds like a demo, not a monolithic one. Its melodic guitar is too sunk in the mix and is poorly tracked unfortunately.

Hi Dave, in General, the work is not bad, but whether there was a saturation of saturators or something else during mixing and in the mix lurking parasitic high frequencies that spoil the whole thing.

Thanks Serge. Agree with your points. I also see bad handling of the overheads track: couldn't manage to get both toms and cymbals out of it. As a result toms sound like they're played on a different kit in a different space, while cymbals are almost completely dissolved.

For guitar tracking, I started experimenting with it just few months ago. It was a big surprise that aside of understanding the recording technique and establishing the process I should also change a LOT in guitar setup and in a way I play it, i.e. change habits of a non-recording player that are there for many years. So no wonder why current result sounds like a demo ๐Ÿ™‚

                  Hi all,

Here's the mix and arrangement I came up with last week.

                  - added piano and strings

I would love to hear your feedback!

                    Hi Sacha,

                    Good mix and arrangement.

Hey guys, so I made a few changes and was hoping to get your thoughts before I finally submit it!

                        Hi Krishna,

The work was done well, and I have nothing more to add.

*Oh, I forgot, you can make the mix a little louder.

                        **Time is running out.
