You can monitor directly through your interface without latency, with the "monitor" turned off in the daw. The problem is if you are using amp sims you just hear a dry di sound until the amp sim goes on it. Thinking out loud, could you split the track and monitor with an amp to get your overdrive or effects and a real feel, and record the dry di and put your amp sim on it in the DAW.
